Water spangles Salvinia minima (x50 plants)
[Note: Listing is for 50 plants]
This is an easy to care for species, they take CO₂ from the atmosphere so don't require a high tech setup. They grow quite fast (propagating from daughter plants) and are excellent at taking up nutrients to help keep your water clean and healthy. They are fantastic at helping to control algae.
They like a bit of warmth so are great in tropical aquaria or heated cold water aquaria, they're also fine in a UK pond during the summer, but they'll be too cold in an outdoor pond during the winter. We recommend a minimum of 18°C and they thrive between 20°C to 24°C.
They provide perfect hiding places for smaller fish and fry.
They don't like fast moving water or the tops of their leaves to be wet. If you've got a lid on your tank it's best to leave an air gap so they don't get damp with condensation.
The plants are grown by us in our specialist aquaria, using our own sustainable methods. We don't use chemicals or chemical fertilisers on these plants so they are snail and shrimp safe too.
All of our plants are grown in real world conditions, not in stale agar in a laboratory, so they will adapt really quickly to their new home and there should be no danger of melting which happens with plants from grow cups.
