Rhaphidophora beccarii variegated
Raphy as he is now known in our grow house is the aquatic form of Raphidophora beccarii. These plants grow in the same biotope as bucephalandra, attached to rocks in streams in the rainforest.
They like bright but indirect light, very wet or submerged conditions and grow very very slowly. Just think of the conditions for bucephalandra and you're there, recommended temperature 22 - 26 °C. Raphy is a lot hardier than bucephalandra species though.
This plant displays some distinct variegation but we've found the variegation quite hard to propagate so please bear this in mind - if it's too bright (which would normally promote the variegation) the plant isn't as happy, so we've come up with a happy medium of slightly less variegated growth but a happier plant.
Just like bucephalandra and anubias, best grown attached to rocks or drift wood, the rhizome must always be visible and never buried.
Note: The listing is for the actual plant you can see in the photos.
